    Great demo of the regulator reset process. But I needed to find a diagnostic checklist, starting with the tank, through to the burner. I had hissing where the regulator attaches to the tank and found a damaged (or never refurbished) seal in the tank valve (thanks, Blue Rhino refurbishers!). I replaced the tank, and no start, no propane smell. I learned how to bleed the tank, but that didn't help. Tried to reset the regulator, not sure if I turned on the tank valve too fast, but still nothing. Detached the regulator rubber hose from the grill braided hose, still no propane. Tried the regulator and hose on two spare tanks, and got very little smell from one, no smell from the other. Got a new regulator, but still no propane from the tank. Tried it on the two spare tanks, and plenty of propane! Changed tanks, connected the regulator, reconnected the regulator hose, didn't hear or smell propane in the grill. (Is there a valve that limits the flow of gas unless there's a flame?) Disconnected the hose, realized the old style internally threaded "new" regulator took more torque to seat fully, but still no smell or sound of propane in the burners. Took a tire valve, held it on the grill braided hose, and blew air (hail Mary, while the hoses were disconnected). Reconnected the hose, and the burner lit. Conclusion: faulty tank valve (two in one week), AND failed regulator. Not real sure that I needed to blow out the line, but chicken soup - didn't hurt, maybe helped. So from now on, I think I'll take a spare regulator from my turkey fryer to test the tank first. Hope this helps!

    You missed the 2 biggest factors in favor of propane: 1) gasoline in the carb eventually gums it up. Propane doesn't do that. 2) gasoline in the tank eventually gums it up and water in the tank rusts it out. Propane doesn't use the tank. 2

    • @gardenfork

      excellent points. I do suggest people use gas stabilizer and shut off the fuel line to the carb and run the engine down. thx for your input!

      @@gardenfork Another important point to many people. I have a walkout basement and store my generator in the basement where I can just roll it outside to use. This is safe to do since it's never had gasoline in the tank. I would not be able to do this if the tank had gasoline or even just gasoline fumes in it. 😊

      Yes but reg has goes bad in a few months in small engine carburetors. Then the engine won’t start. The gas stabilizer prevents that.

    I have a generator with 2-20 amp receptacles. Into one I will plug in a 25 foot 12 gauge extension cord and its other end has 3-15 amp outlets. Into one of these I will plug in a refrigerator that draws 11 amps and into the others I'll plug in very small window AC, light and a fan. So in this scenario I’m good as long I don’t exceed 20 amps for the generator or 15 amps per outlet?

    • @gardenfork
      @gardenfork День тому

      You need to balance the electric load you put on the generator. Distribute the power load between the two outlets. Best to test different power setups to see how much wattage you can run at any one time.

    I own the Cub Cadet V100 version, just different handlebars. It is awesome in clay soil and it easily chews through lawns - which is why I wanted the vertical tine. I believe I bought it 6 or 7 years ago on sale for $700. I don’t use it but every several years. I live in a rural city and it’s so much easier just to own this than to drive to the big city and rent one. Plus these tillers are a solid 300 lbs or more and are difficult to load into a pickup truck. I can verify that roots or vines can get snagged up and tear up the tine drive seal - but I don’t care because it does what I want so much better and easier than a standard roto tiller. It is super slow (but is far smoother to use than any standard tiller)so I had to learn a better way to move it between areas: I disengage the drive, place my foot on the back and give it a mighty shove - or just put up with the slow speed (it’s not that big of a deal, just be patient). I can feel it when it comes to a big tree root - I just lift up the handlebars until I’m over the root. It does have a reverse tine feature if I run into a large rock. The Cub Cadet comes with the same Chinese engine, so far no problems even with infrequent use - but I would have preferred a 223 cc Briggs and Stratton rather than the 208 cc China engine. The recoil starter mechanism is not that great on the Chinese engine. The Cub Cadet comes with a front bumper that slightly gets in the way of the gas tank fill. It’s easy to work on, and like all tillers you should grease the axle shaft when you first get it rather than later having to deal with a wheel that is rusted onto the axle shaft. Also be sure to check the drive transmission is full of oil before using for best long life.

    I know this video is old but, I would suggest aquarium sealer. A little more expensive, but intended to make something hold water. Therefore, more likely to hold out water. Also if you made this from two sheets, using one as the bottom, it would be more stable on the water. This plan makes a nice, simple boat but, it's more like a variation of a canoe. Making it wider would be more like a flat bottom boat.

Avoid getting seeds on clothing, as this can inadvertently spread it around the garden. Mulch borders with a 2.5 inch layer of garden compost or composted bark to suppress seedlings
